In my mind I’ve had a (very flexible) timeline when it comes to deadlines and such for wedding things; though there has been one key element that has been nagging at me, despite its (somewhat) insignificance: our Save the Dates.
See, I had designed a really cute format a few months back….really. I had visited Office Max and came across some Gartner Studios Save the Date Magnet sets (after I had pretty much decided I was going to do postcards) for less than $5 for 100. Pretty Amazing! So, I created a basic design that “would feature” four pics of us holding up a blank card that I’d later fill in with the words “SAVE” “THE” and “DATE.”
I say “would feature” because, although I had help from my favorite hubby-to-be with alignment, well, we had to actually TAKE that picture. The picture that was sitting as a placeholder was of me making ridiculous faces…by myself. I attempted, several times, impromptu photo shoots (bear in mind, this was going to be ultra low-key, with the use of the iSight/Photobooth program on my MacBook) but the Mr. wasn’t having it; and this came with a slew of excuses, “I need a haircut/I need to shave/Maybe tomorrow/We’ll do it later.”
SOOOOO…after a while, i was getting pretty antsy, as I had set a 6 mos. ahead timeline (are you looking at your calendar? And realizing we’re less than 6 mos. out and you have no Save the Date from us? Hmmm!) and it was already the mid/end of May. Still, nothing.
To make a long story even longer, this evening, in the midst of my studying my script for the new tour I’m training in, and catching glances at the NBA Finals, I gave up on my picture Save the Date vision, and suggested we take a graphic I had designed for other paper products for the wedding, adapt it into the magnet, and go with that…we were both happy!
And as I type, I can hear the hum of the printer…yay <3
